Philadelphia singer-songwriter Chris Carmen blends together folk, emo, alternative, and hip-hop. Born and raised in South Jersey, Chris grew up on his parents’ eclectic music collection. He wrote his first song at 9 with the help of his father, a blues harmonica player who taught him basic music theory. He first found inspiration in alternative rock. Later, at Westminster Choir College, he uncovered his love for choral music, pop, and hip-hop. He learned music production and experimented with ideas from different genres. Raw, resonator-driven ballads with unfettered vocals would sit alongside indie folk pop songs. He started uploading tracks in 2024. In 2025, he caught the eye of underground rap pioneer BONES. He and BONES then created “CrampYourStyle,” which appeared on SongsToSleepTo in February 2026. Death of a Heart, his debut album, followed that April.
